Foods You Must Not Eat When Constipated

Constipation is a common problem in which people find it difficult to have regular bowel movements. In medical terms, it is defined as less than three bowel movements in a week. Some symptoms of this health issue are gas, bloating or pain in passing the bowel movements.

According to experts, a healthy bowel movement should be smooth, soft and easy to pass. If you experience fewer than two per day, or if you find yourself straining, then you are constipated.

There are long lists of foods which help to get rid of constipation. On the other hand, there are certain foods which can have a binding effect and can make your constipation worse.

Fried Foods :

These foods are a hub of high saturated fats and have a tendency to yield blockages. These greasy foods are hard for the body to digest and thus slows down the process of digestion.

Dairy Products :

Tea :

Experts suggest avoiding tea consumption when constipated. Although, the herbal teas don’t have any negative effect whereas the black teas contain tannins, which bind the stool together. Tea is a caffeinated drink and a little bit of it can get the digestive system moving. But, its excess intake can dehydrate the body and give the opposite results.

 

Chocolate :

This may be disheartening for the chocolate lovers. Dark chocolates may have multiple health benefits but it’s better to avoid it when seeking relief from constipation.

Milk chocolates are rich in sugar and fat, and the complications which come with those. Chocolate contains caffeine which can worsen the issue of constipation.

Red Meat :

The tough protein fibers of it are difficult to digest for the stomach. It’s better to limit the intake of red meat to avoid constipation.
