Fennel Seeds (Saunf) :

You can prepare an herbal tea with fennel seeds at home. Just add ½ teaspoon of crushed saunf seeds to a cup of warm water and boil it for 10 minutes. After this, strain and enjoy drinking your instant made herbal tea. Or the other option is to take ½ tsp. powder of roasted fennel seeds with warm water two times a day.

Flaxseeds :

Flaxseeds are also good for treating constipation. The first option is to take freshly grounded flaxseeds with water, one time a day. The second one is to mix one tsp. flaxseeds in a glass of water and keep it for 2-3 hours. Drink this water before going to bed for smooth bowel movements.

Bananas :

The fresh and ripe bananas are full of nutrients which help to relieve IBS symptoms. They are helpful for treating diarrhea because the insoluble fibers of bananas absorb the liquid present in the intestines.


The potassium content of them is good for treating bloating and gas. Thus, to maintain a healthy digestive system and prevent IBS, eat one or two ripe bananas in routine.

Chamomile :

Its high amount of tannins and properties of relieving spasms help to give great relief from IBS symptoms. Adding to this, chamomile reduces the swelling of intestines and stomach spasms.


Take 2-3 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers and mix them in a cup of boiling water. After steeping it for about 15 minutes, strain it and add a little lemon juice. Try drinking this herbal tea two times a day.

Peppermint :

It can reduce the symptoms of IBS like cramping and bloating. According to the reports of scientific studies, the antispasmodics and peppermint oil are helpful in treating IBS.


The menthol oil of it helps to smooth the muscles of the digestive tract. This oil facilitates the movement of the food through the stomach in an easy way. To a one-fourth cup of warm water add 2-3 drops of peppermint oil. Drink this solution for three to four times a day. Don’t exceed the amount of peppermint as it can cause other health problems.
